Development of pain management nursing care program for children with cancer

Introduction: Pain management is one of the challenging issues in paediatric oncologic domain. Strengthening nurses’ knowledge and skills are necessary to establish optimal quality care. The study aimed develop a pain nursing care program for children with cancer. Patients methods: participants qualitative research phase included 10 children’s parents (8 mothers 2 fathers) 15 health providers (10 nurses, 3 oncologists, palliative medicine specialists). was exploratory mixed method according Kern model three phases, including two-stage stages (literature review content analysis) first phase, providing draft (Phase 2) validating draft, using Delphi method. Results: Three main categories emerged from literature findings, factors related nursing, parents, healthcare organizations. They were realized as base initial obstacles that considered draft. These classified into domains knowledge, attitude, skill deficiency. contents confirmed 13 outlines at phase. second demonstrated final contents, training on items concept, cancer pain, painful procedures, assessment, care, pharmacological non-pharmacologic interventions pillar management.
